There is a new discussion item posted in the "5 - Discussions" folder. The discussion items are meant to broaden our thinking about teaching and learning. They force us to step back and look at the bigger picture of education. This particular item is about the new assessment model presented by Saskatoon Public School Division and the media backlash it received. Common Strategy 4 is up. Use your TEC to experience video conferencing with your class. It could be an author visit, guest speaker, or connecting your classroom with another classroom across the division or across the world!
Also, have a look at what everyone is saying about the CAP.

About the CAP
The Collaborative Apprenticeship Program (CAP) is an opportunity for teachers to teach and collaborate with colleagues throughout the Horizon School Division. Teachers have been supplied with a Technology-Enabled Classroom kit (laptop, projector, and speaker set) and with the help of the HZSD learning technologists will practice new strategies to infuse technology into their teaching. Through improved collaboration, new teaching and learning strategies, and increased access to a wealth of information and experiences, the Collaborative Apprenticeship program will improve student achievement in "A Community of Learning and Achieving."

I just added an ARts Ed 9 stop motion film making lesson plan; however I was thinking that this would also be a great ELA project. Instead of a micro-drama, they could do a micro-film and re-do the story "with a twist" in the medium of film. The only drawback is the amount of time that it takes.
